I stayed two nights at Gilderdale and would happily go back. It was reasonably priced, basic but clean and lovely. Breakfast was basic but perfectly adequate and there was everything we needed including wifi. The property is situated ideally for exploring Alston and the surrounding area. The main point of praise was the helpfulness of the owner who went out of her way to make life as easy as possible.
