** Relaxing Retreat ** We have (sadly) returned home from a spontaneous two day escape to the countryside. It may have been our first visit but definitely wont be our last. The site is well maintained, pet friendly and plots are spaced out. Sharon was an amazing hostess and couldnt do enough to accommodate us at short notice. We stayed in the Nomad Yurt which had lots of homely extras. You can literally turn up with bedding and camping lamps and enjoy the surroundings. The view is unspoilt and quite spectacular. We saw birds of prey, a hot air balloon and powered parachutes during our stay. The decking was a sun trap with furniture and a little cooking shed to the side. The fire pit was a lovely addition with kindling and logs purchased on site costing less than 10- ideal to stand a disposable barbecue on also. The bar is open from 6pm and is well stocked with a variety of gins, beers, soft drinks and snacks. I would highly recommend the local gins from White Peak Distillery (the spiced being my favourite). We participated in the Easter themed quiz which was great fun. Breakfast is available from 9am; it is delicious, plentiful and can be eaten in the sunshine or under cover in the converted stable. There is a pub a short drive away (it would be a lovely walk in warmer months) and numerous places to eat in Belper. There are takeaways that deliver to the site too if youd prefer to stay put. The site is ideal if you are looking for a relaxing break away with local walking routes or a visit to Crich Tramway Village. We would be keen try the Horse Box, Shepherds hut or even camp next time. A friendly, small site which Sharon clearly has passion and care for. We would highly recommend!

Beautiful campsite with incredible views all around. The owner was beyond welcoming and friendly, going above and beyond to cater to our unusual travel partner (our cat) since we forgot his food bowls! The owners made sure we had enough firewood at all times and offered recommendations about the things to do around us. The campsite itself is definitely pet friendly, in fact Id say the pets are welcome and owners tolerated The entire stay was very peaceful and relaxing, exactly what we were looking for for our first camping holiday over an extended weekend. The amenities are modest but personally I think that just adds to the character of the site itself. You have everything you need from the basic amenities offered, we didnt need all the glamour, personally. Theres a huge paddock that allows your well-behaved pets be off-leash and have a great time, even our cat enjoyed the freedom. I think it is recommended to keep pets on leash whilst here, but due to how quiet and calm it was during our stay, our cat had the luxury of free-roaming around the tent and playing games on the field with us. Only our cat would entertain a game of frisbee or football All in all, I would massively recommend this place for any kind of camper, they have something for everyone and the owners themselves are a standalone reason to visit - honestly could not rate the campsite any better. Thank you for an excellent weekend!
