Rooms: Some Harry Potter theme in all rooms, although the sorting hat had run out of batteries which was disappointing. Huge bathroom, but no fridge or safe. Nearby activities: Castle is around the corner and well worth visiting

Rooms: We had 3 out of the 4 rooms and they were absolutely class, it's a unique experience, definitely worth trying Food & drinks: Food is top class, you have to try the meat nachos .... Those burnt ends are gorgeous

Fabulous hotel, very close to Alnwick Castle and gardens (walking distance). Took us 15 minutes to get to the gardens on foot. Our room was Chamber and it was excellently themed, even had a Harry Potter sorting hat in there. Temperature was controllable so could make it as comfortable as you want. Tea, coffee, water, milk and biscuits provided. Hairdryer also in the room. There was a large smart TV too hidden behind wooden doors. Themeing was amazing. The only thing I would warn about is there are no lifts and 2 of the rooms are on the top floor (2 and a bit flights of stairs) which didn't bother us plus staff offered to carry bags etc. Breakfast is within the Dirty Bottles restaurant and was amazing every single day. It would be good if the Veggie Breakfast menu items were listed on the pre-order card like the main breakfast items are. Would 100% recommend a stay here and book as early as you can to get a room as there's only 4 for the Hallow and Crux.

My other half booked this 3 months in advance for my birthday, she had paid in full the week before but unfortunately fell ill the day before our booking. Rather than hang on and see if she improved she contacted the hotel immediately and informed them of our predicament. She was advised that if she cancelled she wouldn't receive any refund BUT they would re-advertise the room and if somebody booked it, they would refund her payment. Whilst I realise this is likely stated within the terms and conditions of the booking, I'm within my rights to still be unhappy with said terms and conditions. The rooms are not cheap and to take the full payment and offer nothing back left something of a bad taste in my mouth. My partner wanted to re-book the hotel early the following month as she was gutted I'd missed out, I have however insisted we do not bother and make alternative plans. To take that amount of cash, have the chance to re-advertise and not cough up a bean absolutely stinks.
