        The accommodation is of an exceptionally high standard, in a courtyard setting, set back from the main road. There are several places to choose from, and we chose 18 byers because it looked like the nicest available at time of booking. The owners live on site, which is handy - and they don't intrude in any way. The town of Allonby is pretty quiet, with not much to see or do, but is a good base for travelling in the Lake District itself.
