Loved our stay at the Star. The staff were all lovely and attentive, extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable, and the restaurant was also excellent. We couldn't have been happier. It's not an ultra-luxury country manor house style hotel, so if you're looking for opulence it's not for you, but it's a pretty classic cozy country village inn, and thats what it excels at.

Visited The Star on Sunday after a walk around Alfriston. Service wasnt great at the bar in the Inn. Forgot to serve our drinks, had to tell the staff 3 times what we wanted to drink. We were made to feel unwelcome and quite uncomfortable as the staff kept looking at us and asking us if we were okay. We asked a member of staff if we could see the menu, refused to show us the menu as there was no availability to eat even though there were many empty tables. We ended up going to The George opposite the road, they welcomed us with a warm welcome and served us a lovely food with a great atmosphere.
