When I arrived I was treated very nicely and taken straight to the car and left to look over it myself, zero pressure sale no hovering over me or trying to tell me complicated jargon about the specs, purchasing the car was straight forward and all sorted within an hour of me deciding I wanted it.

1- Asked if the car was still available, and was told it is but someone is coming to view it. I asked if they had paid a deposit, but was told they hadn't. I then proceeded to offer a deposit myself to hold the car until I came (I would have bought it anyway) but was told that due to someone having asked to view it (even though they did not leave deposit) I could not leave a deposit myself. I find that really strange, as the purpose of the deposit is to reserve a car that no one has reserved.
Bewildered, I had no choice but to accept that I could not put down a deposit for the car but try my luck after the the other party had viewed it.
2- The other party ended up not making it to Synergy Car Centre. Car was available to reserve. I call in and ASHLEY answers. He tells me that the other party did not show so I can come and view the car. I ask to pay deposit to reserve it, but he says it's not necessary as no one else will be coming and he can hold it for me. Reminding myself of how he fought to keep it for the other party, then this was a safe bet as it seems they operate this way. Basically, they seem to hold a car without a deposit (or so ASHLEY led me to believe).
I have a 150 mile journey each way to the dealer's garage so a wasted trip would leave me exasperated.
I leave towards Alfreton in the early morning of Saturday (11/03/23) and keep calling the office to make sure all is in order. They do not answer the phone until 10:30 (30mins after opening time). I had travelled around 90 miles or so when I was told that someone is test driving the car and wants to buy it.
They ended it buying it and I was told by another member of staff that I could not do anything as the car had no deposit. Wait a minute.... no deposit... goalposts changed. I asked them to recall the convo I had with Ashley, but it was all in vain. I was duped by him it seems.
My reaction is like a stab wound to my stomach. Why was I deprived from viewing it and putting down a deposit when someone had booked a viewing when this time they are allowing someone to do what I couldn't. If I recall what Ashley said on the phone to me first time round "you cannot place a deposit as it would be rude to the person who is coming to view it". So in my case it wasn't rude????
I cannot explain how I felt. I felt so robbed, cheated and angry. I had been sucker punched. This was a disgraceful way of doing business. If you were worried about the reputation of the garage when you did not let me put down a deposit, then this was 10x worse. Shame on you. You should be embarrassed of yourselves.
