I was in the US Air Force, stationed at RAF Woodbridge, from 1977 to 1980. I lived at Aldeburgh House, right down the road. I was an avid golfer, and held a single digit handicap. I went here, looking to join the club. I was asked if I had a sponsor. No. I did not. It became very clear to me what the club was about. GOD FORBID any Yanks would be allowed to join. I suspect that I would have been the 2nd or 3rd best golfer on the course. I was allowed to play on the nine hole course across the road..but I soon tired of breaking par on this much easier course. The blokes that ran the clubhouse were lower class, and put on airs that were totally inappropriate for their station. 45 years later, and I still feel disrespected by the horrendous, false, and fake sense of superiority by these gap-toothed inbreds.
