BED BUGS! Day 1: 12 bites, ignored it, thought it was travel problem; Day 2: 2x as many bites; went to Boots pharmacist who said probably horse flies, even under arms and on foot bottoms; Day3 : Many more bites, go to friends and look on web : identify type of bites with blisters and pattern. Do not move lodging yet as we did not want to infest others; Day 4: Collect bed bug specimens in plastic bag...tell owner who does not want to see them or to believe it but concedes they had moved mattresses which had formerly been infested from another room 6 months ago to our room; Other owner says 60% of all guest houses in England infested, We pay entire bill and leave. All clothing goes to cleaners and laundry mat; shoes bags suitcases, toilet articles, purses, books all fumigated, trip to MD at surgery in Cambridge to treat for allergy to bites and 2 days removed from our English vacation fighting bed bugs. We write to owners to tell them what happened and ask for cleaning reimbursement, they say no one else has complained and they have not closed the room, it is still rented. I give the rating above because the breakfasts were good and other guests fun...but if you don't want to have bed bugs or to infest your home and friends and family with bed bugs, I advise it best to stay away from this bandb. They do not seem to care whether they take care of the problem or not. I am a positive person and I don't like to write this report, but I write because I pity all the people who will become infected at this business. Thank goodness for reviews! Hopefully the Ocean House will take it seriously and take care of good business. It is a beautiful location.
