I have been coming to the MGRM Muay Thai club for a year, I can testify that the experience is life-changing. Amazing coaching. A friendly group of fighters too, makes it the perfect place to train. I highly recommend it.

I started coming here after a long hiatus having done muay thai 20 years ago at uni. My objective was to become competent at sparring, something I never got into. The classes are very busy, yet Gee, the instructor, had this ability to pick up small nuances in my technique to modify. I'm also convinced he managed the tempo of my first few sparring sessions to allow me to pick it up - something I am very grateful for. Sparring aside, classes are well structured and intense. There is a strong focus on technique through reptition, and building instincts through reaction drills, not just mindless combos against some pads.

I've been a member here since August 2021 and the journey I've taken through attending this club has, in short, transformed me..I'm fitter, stronger, more confident than I've ever been. It's enabled me to grow in so many ways and teach my levels of discipline that I, admittedly, have not adhered to before. Unlike many other places, the team here are really focused on. Developing your technique. Not just hammering away at each other and seeing who can hit the fastest/hardest. The team has genuine care for each other and strives to see you progress. It's not just a money milking machine like at some other gyms. There is freedom to expand your training in whichever capacity you choose, whether that be fighting more professionally, leveling up with grading, or becoming a teacher. We are always pushed to teach each other and share what we know so that everyone can grow together. Overall joining MGRM has been one of the best decisions of my life and I'm excited to see where the rest of this journey will take me.

During the Covid lockdowns, I noticeably started gaining weight and I began to feel generally quite sluggish. I realised fairly quickly that I needed to do something about this. Having been fascinated by watching Muay Thai on TV, I knew that training in this martial art would not only help me achieve my goal of losing weight but I would also pick up valuable self defence skills. Just over a year ago, I googled my nearest Muay Thai class and MGRM popped up. At age 33 and with hardly any fitness I was naturally quite nervous walking in on my first day. However, everyone from the staff to the class members put me at ease. The training was structured in such a way that it developed my fitness gradually. There was an emphasis on proper technique: any mistakes I was making were brought to my attention and I was given tips to improve. Over the last year I have lost a lot of the weight that I gained over the pandemic. I've also grown in confidence with each training session that I attended (and continue to attend). I know that none of this would have been possible without joining a first rate Muay Thai gym like MGRM. I'm looking forward to continuing my journey with MGRM and seeing where it takes me next!
