We arrived on the Wednesday evening and we were booked to stay until the following Monday morning. First impressions were not great as we realised that in order to book in we had to go into the main bar area which was full of drinkers from the adjacent housing estate, a scene reminiscent of the TV series 'Shameless' sprang to mind. Having booked in we then decided to shower and go for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. The food was not the best but it was similiar to a Wetherspoons standard, which the staff eagerly took as being a compliment. Don't expect a wide choice of drinks especially on the wine side. We asked for a bottle of Chardonnay and were presented with "We don't have any red wine but we have got pinot or sauvignon"! The wine glasses handed to me were absolutely filthy and I asked for two clean ones only to be told thst they didn't have any more! I asked for some napkins so I could give them a wipe...only to be told they didn't have any. My partner then removed a couple of used napkins from the cutlery tray and started wiping the glasses. Disgusting is NOT the word to use! The napkin was literally black after the glasses had been wiped so we went back to the bar to show the staff. They took the glasses into the kitchen, rinsed them under a tap and handed them back to us. My partner asked for them to be cleaned properly so they were put through a dishwasher. When handed back to us they were still grimy, with lipstick marks around the rim clearly visible. When asked if they had even used any detergent in the machine, my partner was told "Yeah, we probably should but we don't have any"! We had a glass of wine and my partner then went to use the toilets. When she returned, the heel of her boot went into a hole in the floor hidden underneath the carpet, she tripped and fell into a supporting pillar, grazing her right elbow and severely bruising her forearm. This was reported immediately to the duty manager, who entered the details into the accident book. We were then offered a bottle of wine as compensation and a 'wet floor' sign was posted over the hole. Upon checking the next morning, the 'wet floor' sign had been removed and the hole was unrepaired. We did'nt eat or drink in there for the remainder of our visit. Very noisy during the night and was woken up at 01:25, 03:15 and 06:35 by people in the rooms above who clearly wore concrete clogs to party in! The room itself was very basic so you would be led to believe it would be easy to clean...Not at all! Toilet seat was broken, the shower head was full of black mould as was the shower basin and the entire floor was stained yellow with splatter marks. Clearly the bathroom had not been cleaned since the last guest had stayed as there were hairs on the shower wall and the bathroom walls were covered in cobwebs. The light fitting was full of dead insects. The headboard of the bed was covered in dust showing it had not seen the clean side of a duster for some time. All in all, a very disappointing visit and not one I would repeat. I would sincerely not recommend this place to anyone, even for a short overnight stay.
