Very disappointed today after visiting Rossendale for the first time.
Whilst taking my daughter on the lowest part of the big slope, I was approached by Debbie a passive aggressive ski Instructor who told me I should be wearing gloves. I excepted this as one of their rules but asked her why she didn't have a helmet on whilst demanding I wear my gloves. She replied that it wasn't in the rules to wear a helmet. So imagine my confusion that gloves are prioritised over helmets?? Graze on the hand vs skull fracture/Brain damage
Any way she and her fellow jobsworth ski Instructors after being triggered up by my absence of gloves that I'd left at home decided to enforce another rule upon me. I was told I couldn't take my 7 year old daughter up on the button lift with me. Despite us only travelling 10 metres or so up it to use the lower begginer slope.
I tried to explain that my daughter isn't quite confident enough yet to use it on her own, so I was just building her upto it, despite her having no trouble skiing.
They insisted, so against my will and judgement I let her go on her own. Predictably she fell off, hurt herself, cried and lost confidence on more than one attempt.
Eventually after seeing my daughter becoming increasingly worried, I decided they had won and had successfully disillusioned me, and upset my daughter, despite her being brave and having success on her own a couple of times.
So after just half an hour and 40 less, I decided to leave never to return.
I will add that the place could also do with improvement. The runs were very slow and not at all like snow. The width of track under the button lift could be wider.
The button lift itself was too fast for begginers at the start, whiplash levels for a young child like mine.
How could this be resolved?
Review your rules... How can helmets not be worn when you insist on policing gloves? Absolutely ridiculous!
How can I not take my 4 stone daughter on the button lift when one adult could weigh more than us both combined and would be fine?
Listen to parents more. I have 25 years ski experience... I know my daughter better than your ski Instructors do. We were quite happy and causing no problem at all to anyone until the Health and Safety at Work Army got involved.
Get shut of the over the hill Instructors.
