Pizza Express

I have eaten in a quite a few Pizza Express restaurants, and this is an good example. The restaurant is effectively split into 2 areas, the front narrow room and then a back room with larger tables. Our starters were garlic bread, you can't go wrong there, and I tried the honey and chilli dough balls, very hot, but so nice!. For mains we had couple of pizza's, La Reine, on the Romana thin bases, really nice. We added extra pepperoni and we were given a good measure, which was good. We had one desert, the classic brownie and a nice flat white coffee. Good to see that Pizza express sell Coke Zero and not just Diet Coke, small point, but nice. Staff were friendly enough, a smile is so important!

From being given a table for four, for a family of five to being given dirty highchair from an uncleaned table, our meal didn't get off to the best start. We were left waiting for long periods despite the restaurant being practically empty. The drink I ordered was incorrectly made and mainly consisted of ice cubes. The waitress pushed our dirty starter plates out of the way with our full main course plates and when we tried to speak to the manager, my husband was dismissed like a naughty school child. Add in to this the poor lady who asked for a table for her and her son, with no reservation only to be made to feel unwelcome and like an inconvenience because the restaurant would allegedly be full in 30-45 mins (it wasn't by the way), this really was a very unpleasant experience. The food was good, although not the hottest but the whole meal was spoilt by such terrible service.
