Refused to stay even before we checked in!!!
My wife and I booked this hotel as its our wedding anniversary and wanted a weekend away. We drove up to the Manor house, which initially is amazing. As we pull up however we can see workman and tools laying about in the Manor House entrance.
When we walk in, there is no one around and everything is covered in dust from the workmen!! We had no idea where to go. Ended up phoning reception and being directed to where to go.
The hotel was filthy!! We get to reception and as we were early we asked to use the pool. We head down to the pool and as we get closer the stench is awful!! It smelt of mould, sewage and damp.
The unisex changing rooms also had workman's tools in, door frames hanging off, saws and hammers were just laying around. It was at this point we knew we couldn't stay here. My wife has asthma and the workmans dust everywhere just wasn't safe.
When we told reception we weren't staying and wanted a refund, the receptionist acted like I was the 100th person to say this too her. Luckily I remembered a sister hotel and then asked if we could transfer to that one as we didn't want to weekend ruined. That turned out to be amazing thank god!!
If there is work going on, warn your guests! Awful hotel, awful condition and I can still feel the stench in my nose!
Avoid this hotel and go straight to its sister hotel, Denham Grove. Only 12 miles away.
