I have just changed accountants to Nic. He has worked his socks off to get my 2021/22 year end onto Xero and has done my HMRC submissions for my personal self assessment and the limited company submission. Ive recently terminated our service with the Balancer and Im so glad that weve parted ways! In such a short space of time, our new accountant has made such a positive impact to our business, and its highlighted the quality of service we received from the balancer, which was overall mediocre. The good about Nic, is that hes very quick to respond to queries, when I ask the questions. He has also offered some guidance on how to process transactions for our business, at the very beginning (when we joined). Ive never personally worked in a practice, so doing the bookkeeping for our business was very new. He helped me to set everything up, and I give him credit for that! It started off on a high note! However, the downsides, is that communication between us became very weak afterwards. Wed go months and months (6/7 months) without talking with him. Whereas, my new accountant would set up calls for us to speak to each other and discuss how the business is going etc, and how can he help to make things better! A very personalised service. My new accountant reviews our accounts and recommends ways that we can save money and asks questions! Whereas with Nic, Im the one to ask the questions! There were so many ways that we could reduce our Corp tax, which we didnt know about, that Nic never made us aware of! I found this out through Google, which you dont expect to do when were paying for an accounting service! Whereas with our new accountant, hes laid everything out for us and really tries to help us! At the end, I, politely, told him that we were leaving and we will be utilising the service of another accountant. He told us that its best that were parting ways with him, which I thought was extremely rude and unprofessional! He said this was because we never followed his advice about Payroll, which wasnt special advice, all he said was to put my partner on the payroll. Thats basically the only advice he suggested (apart from setting up the accounts) we were given in 12 months. I thought this was an extremely poor reason to be rude and unprofessional as weve always been courteous and friendly. Furthermore, with our last VAT return which he submitted for us, he never told us how to pay for it, which led to us receiving a warning letter from HMRC! I feel like this was out of spite for leaving him. With our new accountant, with every VAT return that is submitted, its uploaded onto a portal for us to approve and also attached is how to pay for the VAT return! I think Nic is a great accountant for just submitting your financial statements, however if you want an accountant that goes above and beyond to help you, that offers a bespoke personalised service, I would look elsewhere. He said to me at the end he would be very disappointed if I left a negative review. Nic, I will not be bullied into not sharing my truth.

Fab service always from Nic, prompt with replies and reliable. So glad we moved to him from our previous archaic accountant. And.... the only BS you get from is the Balance sheet!
